Trash Rack General Construction

October 26, 2013 Written by Randy Mueller

The trash rack structure was the final restoration project completed at the site. The 2008 flood caused considerable damage by dislodging boulders and large rocks into the fore-bay and the flume, as the center mill gate was displaced into the flume by the impact. The resulting debris blocked the gates from being closed. The town placed a coffer dam in front of the head race after repairs were completed to the primary spillway. The uncontrolled flow conditions at the mill gates was mitigated with a concerted volunteer effort in December 2008.
